Preserving values, taking responsibility, shaping the future – according to these educational principles Louisenlund teaches young people to become caring and committed members of society.

With its exceptional location at the Große Breite of the Schlei, in the beautiful countryside of Northern Germany, the students of Louisenlund spend their school days in an environment which is at once a protective community and a cosmopolitan network. Education in Louisenlund includes career training, multilingual programs and a wide variety of social activities, combining learning and living in a unique way.

Founded in 1949 as a state-recognised, independent upper level school, Louisenlund today has 330 students and is one of the largest and best-known boarding schools in Germany. It is part of a network encompassing a large number of international contacts and partner schools on six continents.

In response to globalization, students at the only boarding-school in Northern Germany have the opportunity to study for, not only the German „Abitur”, but as an IB World School also the globally accepted International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma.
